Actress Dupe Jayesimi Opens Up About Infertility Struggles and Relationship with a Married Man

In a recent interview on Biola Adebayo’s YouTube channel, Jayesimi revealed that she once had a relationship with a married man, solely out of desperation to conceive.

She recalled how her struggles began in 1988 when she got married while already expecting a child. Sadly, she suffered a miscarriage shortly after the wedding. Despite undergoing medical treatments and surgery to improve her chances of conception, she was unable to get pregnant again.

During this time, her marriage deteriorated. Her husband became distant, disappearing for months and failing to provide financial support. She later discovered that he had impregnated another woman, leaving her heartbroken and depressed.

The emotional pain led her to alcohol as a coping mechanism. Determined to have a child, she entered into a relationship with a wealthy, married man—an Alhaji—who was supportive of her dream. After multiple attempts, she finally conceived but began experiencing severe pain. Medical tests later confirmed an ectopic pregnancy, forcing her to terminate it.

Despite trying various fertility treatments, including two failed rounds of IVF, she was never able to conceive again. As time passed, the Alhaji’s wife became hostile towards her, prompting her to end the relationship.

Reflecting on her experience, she said:
“Few weeks after I left my husband’s house, I discovered that another woman had moved in and was already pregnant for my husband. I was devastated and cried for days. This emotional pain led me to start drinking alcohol because it helped me sleep. After that, I met an Alhaji who was very supportive. After several attempts, I finally got pregnant again, but I often felt severe pain. A scan later revealed that it was an ectopic pregnancy and it had to be removed. Later, I did everything possible to get pregnant but none worked. I even had IVF twice but it failed. Unfortunately, Alhaji’s wife started troubling me. Eventually, I ended the relationship and never got pregnant again. I only had an affair with the Alhaji because I wanted to get pregnant and be called a mother. I never intended to marry him.”

Jayesimi’s story highlights the deep emotional struggles that come with infertility and the lengths some individuals go to in their pursuit of motherhood.
