In a frank interview on Kunleafod TV with Kunle Afod, Coker recounted a troubling incident on a film set where multiple actors pressured her for intimate favors before offering her a role. She shared, “I encountered many challenges in the movie industry, including a time when some actors insisted on sleeping with me. One day, a well-known actor demanded I leave the movie set after I refused his advances. In total, four actors wanted to have sex with me on that set before they would cast me in a role.”
Coker described the emotional toll of such experiences but expressed gratitude for her husband’s steadfast support. “I’m always grateful to my husband because he doesn’t believe the negative things people say about me,” she said.
Her testimony has sparked important discussions about harassment in Nollywood and the challenges female actors face behind the scenes. As a respected name in Yoruba cinema, Coker has since stepped back from acting to focus on other pursuits. Her story underscores the urgent need for reforms within Nollywood to create a safer, more respectful environment for all actors.
