The manager in charge of Pristine Mega Stores Limited in Ikorodu, Lagos Buhari Fatai, 33, has been charged before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing his employer’s N28m within a period of three years.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG in charge of zone 2 command, ordered his men to arrest the defendant following a petition by the complainant.
The defendant, a resident of Ayinde Street, Akoka Estate Imowo Kekere, Ikorodu was charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court, sitting at the Tinubu Magistrate’s Court Lagos on a three-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing.
Police Counsel, Jimoh Joseph informed the court in the charge marked C/10/2021 that the defendant committed the offence between 6 March, 2018 and 15 March, 2021 at Pristine Mega Stores Limited, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Joseph told the court that the defendant used his position as the manager in charge of Pristine Mega Stores Limited to steal the sum of N28m belonging to his employer within a period of three years before nemesis finally caught up with him.
He said the offences committed were punishable under sections 411 and 287 (7) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Fatai, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate, B.O Osunsanmi granted him bail in the sum of N1m with two sureties in like sum.
Osunsanmi adjourned the case till 6 December, 2021 for mention and ordered that the defendant be kept at the Ikoyi correctional facilities till he perfected the bail conditions.
