Gospel singer Kirk Franklin reveal Why he stopped talking to his mother

Kirk Franklin, the Grammy-winning gospel singer, has shared why he decided to stop talking to his mother when he was 32 years old.

On the ‘Funky Friday’ podcast, the 54-year-old artiste recounted the incident that led to their separation.

Franklin explained that he was the sole person supporting his sister after her release from prison, helping her with housing and other needs while she struggled with drug issues.

During the meeting, Franklin felt the focus should be on his sister, but his mother’s new husband criticized him for not keeping in touch with his mom.

The argument escalated, and Franklin’s mother decided to leave with her new husband. This upset Franklin deeply, as he felt she chose her new partner over her own children.

This led to a heated argument in which Franklin’s mother chose to leave with her new husband, leaving Franklin feeling deeply hurt.

Franklin was especially pained by his mother’s decision to prioritize her new partner over her children, feeling that she had neglected her responsibilities as a mother.

This experience led him to resolve that he would not allow himself to be treated in such a manner again.
