Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has shared a shocking experience where he witnessed a person disguised as an Ekun masquerade entering another man’s home and having an affair with the man’s wife....CONTINUE READING>>>
Speaking on Seun Oloketuyi’s TV show, Kosoko revealed that he personally intervened to resolve the dispute when the situation came to light.
He warned about the influence of movies on society, stressing that if such an incident were depicted in a film, it could encourage others to imitate it. Since Ekun masquerades are often seen as untouchable, some individuals might assume they could engage in similar behavior without consequences.
In Kosoko’s words:
“I have seen Egungun, somebody in Ekun, going into another man’s house to have fun with the man’s wife. I have seen that before. I was the one that settled the matter. Will it now be good enough to stage it? Some people will now develop an idea from that movie, if it is done in a movie, and say ‘Oh, actually since nobody can query any Ekun person I can do this.'”
His statement has sparked discussions about the ethical responsibilities of filmmakers in portraying real-life events.
