A friend of Oloba Salo, Tunde Perry, raised an alarm about the incident on Thursday, sharing the news that Salo was in critical condition after being shot.

Perry, who is also active on TikTok, revealed that Salo was shot in the leg by attackers who also stole his gold chain at a gas station in Lekki.

He mentioned that some people rushed Salo to Perez Medcare Hospital in Lekki Phase 2, where he visited him. He said, “They shot Salo in the leg and took his gold chain. He was rushed to the hospital by some people, and I have been there to see him.”

A video circulating online showed Salo’s white AMG GLE 43 Mercedes Benz stained with blood, with a bullet casing visible on the driver’s seat.

Prior to the shooting, Oloba Salo had posted a video asking his manager, Sula, for security assistance, emphasizing his need for protection. He urgently requested a security detail, addressing Sula as “my daddy” and pleading for help.

Known as the “Ogba President,” Oloba Salo had recently been involved in a dispute with fellow TikToker, Tobi Nation, over the purchase of a new home. Salo claimed he had helped Tobi Nation connect with the agent who facilitated the sale of the Lekki property, but Tobi disagreed, saying he didn’t follow the payment plan suggested by Salo.

After the incident, Tobi Nation attempted to visit Salo in the hospital, but he was not allowed to see him.

Lagos Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, in a post on X (formerly Twitter), thanked the staff at Evercare Hospital in Lekki for their quick response in treating Salo’s gunshot wounds and notifying the police.

He encouraged other hospitals to follow this example and not refuse treatment to gunshot victims.
