Colleagues, friends, and fans have taken to social media to express their grief and honor her contributions to Nigerian cinema.

Veteran actress Rita Edochie shared a solemn tribute on Instagram, posting an image of a candlelight with the caption:
“This world is really not our home.”

Many others also paid their respects. Social media user Buchi Dortmund wrote:
“Today, my heart is heavy with sorrow as I say goodbye to my dear sister. Words cannot capture the depth of this pain, nor can they fully express the love I have for her. Rest in peace, Ezigbo Mrs. Nkechi Nweje.”

Another mourner, Asa Ikuku, remembered her fondly:
