Ogun State Slams Portable as ‘Unrepentant Rascal’ Over Attack on Officials

In a statement issued on Friday, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Information and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, described Portable as a “serial dissident” whose repeated attacks on government officials were “unacceptable and barbaric.”

According to Akinmade, the government will not tolerate such behavior and will ensure that the law takes its full course.

He said, “We are profoundly taken aback by the unpleasant and uncivil act of the Hip-hop artiste, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, on Wednesday, in Iyana Ilogbo, where his bar is located.

“The way in which Portable and some miscreants he employed attacked the officials of the OGPDPA is not only bizarre but a confirmation of the erosion of Omoluabi ethos in those individuals and indeed a great disgrace to the state.”

Akinmade further emphasized that Governor Abiodun remains committed to upholding law and order, warning that no one—regardless of social status—will be spared if found guilty of lawlessness.

“Governor Dapo Abiodun totally condemns this primitive and indecent act and reiterates his commitment to a just and egalitarian society. He is ready to make any individual flouting the extant law face the full wrath of the law, irrespective of social status and influence,” he added.

The Ogun State Police Command has since arraigned nine of Portable’s associates before a Magistrates’ Court in Isabo, Abeokuta.

Those charged include Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26).

They face five counts, including felony, assault, unlawful possession of weapons, conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, and attempted murder. All the defendants pleaded not guilty.
