Afropop artist Ikuforiji Olaitan Abdulrahman, popularly known as Oxlade, revealed that he dropped out of Lagos State University (LASU) in his final year due to gang-related threats.

The “Kulosa” singer explained that he became a target because of his appearance, which put him at risk of being forced to join the gangs or face serious harm.

Reflecting on that difficult period, Oxlade described it as a “crazy time” and shared that leaving school felt like the best choice for his safety. “I dropped out in my final year because being a fine boy made me a target. It was either I joined the gangs or they came for me, so I had to leave that environment,” he said.

He also noted that LASU has since improved, with more focus on academics and students now prioritizing their future goals over such behavior.

After leaving school, Oxlade ran away from home, too afraid to tell his family the real reason for dropping out.
