Portable’s Case Adjourned to March 26 for Charge Merger

An Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court has adjourned the case involving popular musician Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, until March 26 to allow for the merging of his charges with those of his workers....CONTINUE READING>>>

When the case resumed on Wednesday following Portable’s initial arraignment on February 20, the prosecution argued that it would be inefficient to hear the musician’s case separately from that of his workers.

Senior State Counsel, Mr. Timileyin Oredein, informed the court that Portable’s case had a related matter involving his nine workers, who were earlier arraigned on February 6 on similar charges. He emphasized that conducting separate trials would be a waste of judicial time and requested a short adjournment to allow for the charges to be merged before the trial begins.

Portable and his workers are facing a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, unlawful obstruction while armed with cutlasses and a gun, and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. They are also accused of assaulting three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.
