According to Augustina, the incident occurred late at night as she was heading home. Just as she was about to cross the bridge, two men suddenly appeared and demanded everything she had.

“I was about to cross the Abiola Gardens bridge when these guys appeared and demanded everything I had. I couldn’t refuse because one of them had a sharp cutlass. The fear was overwhelming, and I dared not look at the weapon the other man carried,” she recounted.

When asked if anyone witnessed the attack, Augustina explained that the area was so poorly lit that the robbers were able to operate unnoticed.

“They robbed me right under the bridge, and nobody saw a thing. The place was dark, and no police were present,” she revealed.

Since the terrifying incident, Augustina has avoided that route altogether, choosing a safer but more expensive alternative.

“Since that day, I never pass that spot again. I now take an alternative route, even though it costs more, but I don’t mind. My safety is more important,” she said.

The incident has sparked renewed concerns about safety and security in poorly lit areas of Lagos, highlighting the need for improved street lighting and police patrols.
