Tonto Dikeh Alerts Nigerians to New Fraud Scheme

Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has sounded the alarm about a new scam tactic being used by fraudsters to extort money from unsuspecting victims. Tonto explained that the scammers approach people in public spaces, crying and accusing them of making fake bank transfers for items they supposedly purchased. The dramatic scene often attracts a crowd, escalating tensions and leaving the victim with little choice but to pay up or risk mob action.

In her warning, Tonto wrote:
“Beware: You could be approached in public by someone crying and accusing you of a fake transfer for something you allegedly bought. A crowd gathers, and you’re forced to either pay or face jungle justice. Imagine the embarrassment, wasted time, or even physical harm before help can arrive. Stay alert—things are wild out there.”

This isn’t the first warning from a Nollywood star about rising fraudulent activities. Yoruba actress Ronke Oshodi Oke recently recounted a near-robbery incident on the highway, cautioning Nigerians to be wary of suspicious behavior during their travels.

Both actresses have urged the public to remain vigilant and prioritize their safety in the face of increasing scams and dangers.
