Yomi Fabiyi organizes peaceful protest demanding justice for Mohbad

Nollywood actor and human rights advocate Yomi Fabiyi has announced a peaceful protest to demand justice for the late singer Ilerioluwa Promise, better known as Mohbad. The protest is scheduled for September 30, 2024, at the Lagos State House of Assembly.

In a statement released shortly after the one-year anniversary of Mohbad’s death, Fabiyi expressed frustration over alleged attempts to cover up key evidence and manipulate the investigation. He accused those involved in the singer’s death of using large sums of money to influence the investigation and divert attention from the truth.

Fabiyi urged the public to join the protest to pressure Lagos State lawmakers into forming a committee to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of Mohbad’s death. He highlighted the potential existence of CCTV footage from the singer’s home, suggesting that authorities have not made sufficient efforts to retrieve this crucial evidence.

Calling for transparency, Fabiyi also pointed to the builders and security personnel of the estate where Mohbad lived, claiming they might hold valuable information.

The protest, organized under the hashtags #JusticeForMohbad and #BreakTheSilence, invites participants to wear black tops and white armbands as a symbol of unity in the call for justice. Fabiyi encouraged all to join, declaring, “Let us speak with one voice.”

“COME ONE, COME ALL, AND LET US SPEAK IN ONE VOICE,” Fabiyi added.
