Adeleke overtakes Oyetola in Osun election

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, has assumed the lead over incumbent Gboyega Oyetola, according to polling unit results uploaded by the Independent National Electoral Commission.....CONTINUE READING>>>

Though collation is ongoing, Adeleke is leading the incumbent governor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), with over 10,000 votes.

So far, Adeleke has polled 67,892 votes while Oyetola has 56,915 votes.

Adeleke won Atakumosa West LGA, the first council declared by INEC.

He polled a total of 7,750 votes ahead of Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the APC who got 6601 votes in the election.

According to results announced at the LGA Collation Centre, Atakumosa West has a total of 36,470, while 15,171 were accredited for the election.

One of the party agents said there was an issue of violence at Ward 7, unit 11, leading to a broken ballot box and inconclusive election at the Unit.

The PDP candidate has secured victory in not less than seven LGAs, more than the four LGAs won so far by Gboyega Oyetola, the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearer.

In Olorunda LGA, Adeleke polled 21, 350 votes while Oyetola secured 18,709 votes.

In Ede South, Adeleke garnered 19,438 votes while Oyetola got 5704.

Adeleke also won Orolu LGA with 10,282 votes. Oyetola got 9928 votes.

In Osogbo, the PDP candidate polled 30,401 votes — well ahead of the APC flag bearer who secured 22,952 votes.

Odo Ota LGA also went Adeleke as he got 14,003 votes while Oyetola picked up 13,482.

In Ifelodun LGA, the PDP candidate got 17,107 votes while Oyetola placed second with 16,068 votes.

Adeleke also won Irepodun LGA with 14,369 votes while the APC candidate got 12,122.

However, Oyetola won Iwo LGA with 17, 421 votes compared to the 16,914 secured by Adeleke.

Oyetola also won Ayedade LGA with 14,527 votes. Adeleke got 13,380 votes.

The PDP has claimed victory, with APC lashing back that the collation has not been completed.

There are 30 local councils in the state.

There are a total of 1,955,657 registered voters in the election which held across 3,763 polling units.
