In a statement issued in Ibadan by its publicity secretary, Olawale Sadare, the party described the budget as “another fictitious document designed to enrich a few individuals in power.” The APC argued that the proposed budget, which the governor referred to as a “Budget of Economic Stabilization,” failed to meet its intended purpose.

The statement further claimed that the budget presentation was more of a ceremonial act than a genuine effort to improve the state’s economy, suggesting that Makinde did not involve relevant stakeholders in the budget’s preparation. The party also expressed skepticism about the governor’s commitment to implementing the budget once it is passed by the lawmakers.

The APC pointed out that experts have raised concerns over the lack of tangible improvements in the state’s socio-economic and infrastructural development over the past five years. The party challenged Makinde’s claim that the 2025 budget reflected the input of the people of Oyo State, demanding clarification on specific projects that would consume 51% of the total N679 billion allocation.

Additionally, the APC called on the governor to provide a timeline for the promised N80,000 minimum wage for workers and offer details on the state’s wage bill to justify the recurrent expenditure in the proposed budget.
