Dr. Olaleye had been sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for allegedly assaulting his wife’s 16-year-old niece. Justice Oshodi ruled that the prosecution, represented by the Lagos State Government, had presented compelling evidence to secure the conviction.
However, Dr. Olaleye appealed the ruling, disputing both the conviction and the sentence. In a judgment delivered on Friday, the Court of Appeal upheld his appeal, reversing the previous decision and clearing him of all charges.
The appellate court had previously reserved judgment in October after hearing arguments in the case.
