BREAKING NEWS: Danjuma Opens Private Airport and Hotel as Nigerian Government Transfers Kashimbila Power Dam to Private Firm

The handover ceremony took place at the dam site in Kashimbila, Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State on Saturday. Theophilus Danjuma, who is from the region, now leads the consortium managing the dam.

The Kashimbila Dam, a federal initiative aimed at preventing flooding from water releases by Cameroon, has evolved into a key source of clean energy for the state.

Along with generating electricity, it is expected to drive regional economic growth by transforming the area into a tourism destination, featuring an upgraded airport and a newly built five-star hotel—both projects undertaken by Danjuma’s company.

Mr. Sola Arifayan, Managing Director of KP Hydro Limited, emphasized that the concession agreement aims to boost Nigeria’s renewable energy capacity.

He expressed appreciation for the community’s support during the process and affirmed KP Hydro’s commitment to the long-term development of the region, aiming to contribute to the community’s growth.

During the event, Musa Bello, Chairperson of Kashimbila Hydro Limited, praised Theophilus Danjuma’s role in the project and highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving its success.

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State called the concession a significant advancement for the state’s energy sector.

He noted that the Kashimbila Power Plant would benefit not only the local community but the entire state, aligning with the state’s goal of providing clean, renewable energy.

He also mentioned the creation of the Taraba State Electricity Regulatory Agency, which will oversee energy generation within the state.

Governor Kefas urged KP Hydro Limited to collaborate closely with the Taraba State Ministry of Energy and Economic Development to maximize the plant’s output and explore additional energy opportunities.

Commissioner for Energy and Economic Development, Naomi Tagbu, commended Governor Kefas for his leadership, particularly in the recent establishment of the regulatory agency, which she described as a transformative step for the state’s energy sector.

She emphasized the importance of continued cooperation between KP Hydro Limited and the ministry to ensure the project’s success and maximize its potential.

Theophilus Danjuma, in his remarks, acknowledged the Kashimbila Dam as the federal government’s largest investment in Taraba State.

He expressed gratitude to the government for its support and recognized the efforts of Musa Bello and Thomas Etuh, Chairperson of KP Hydro Limited, in securing the concession agreement.
