This would be the last time he would attend such a meeting as president of Nigeria as he is due to hand over to President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the 29th of May.
In a tweet which he sent out after his address, he described the moment as pleasurable, extraordinary and significant, as he also had to be present for the coronation of King Charles
In his address to the Commonwealth Leaders, he expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the 2023 general elections in Nigeria, declaring that democracy in Nigeria is making progress and maturing. He also declared that the outcome showed that Nigerians can elect their leaders in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
