Gold, who had been on the run for over five years, was arrested on December 31, 2024, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

She was returning from Dubai, where she had been hiding after absconding from justice.

NAPTIP revealed that Gold had been convicted in absentia for trafficking underage Nigerian girls to Dubai for forced prostitution.

Her arrest follows years of collaborative efforts involving the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Interpol, and the UAE police.

The fugitive fled the country after violating her bail conditions, using the UAE as a safe haven to evade justice.

“This is a clear message to the rest of the criminal gang: you can hide for a while, but you can never hide forever,” stated NAPTIP’s Director General, Binta Adamu Bello, in a press briefing.
