Bobrisky’s arrest is linked to ongoing bribery allegations. After being detained, he was moved from Lagos to Abuja for further investigation. In a phone interview with SaharaReporters, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale provided details about the arrest, stating that Bobrisky had previously ignored a summons from the agency.
“We arrested him last night and brought him to Abuja because our investigative team is based there,” he said. Oyewale added that Bobrisky was trying to avoid revealing the names of those who allegedly bribed him, and he had attempted to leave the country. The EFCC official expressed the agency’s desire for Bobrisky to name the officials connected to the bribery claims.
“We arrested him to compel him to provide the names of those involved, but he has not cooperated,” Oyewale stated. When asked if there are plans to charge Bobrisky with bribery, Oyewale mentioned that there is no update on that matter at this time. This arrest follows a previous incident in October when Bobrisky was detained by Customs officials at the Seme-Nigerian border while trying to enter Benin Republic.
This happened shortly before he was scheduled to testify before a Senate inquiry regarding various allegations against him.
