End Of Ramadan: Scientific Evidence Shows When The New Moon Will Be Sighted

The Saudi Arabia authority has instructed citizens to look out for the sighting of the new moon on Tuesday, marking the end of the month of Ramadan and ushering in the Feast Of Breaking The Fast, Eid Lil Fitri. 

But all scientific evidence presented by www.moonsighting.com shows that the exercise may just be in futility as the foremost moon sighting website presented scientific evidence why the new moon can not be seen anywhere in the world on Tuesday, May 10 2021. 

The first evidence presented is the astronomical visibility curve for the new moon.

According to the website, the new moon will be born on Tuesday night, 8 pm West Africa time and will not be visible until Wednesday in some part of West Africa and the Americas. 

The other evidence which corroborates the first is the waning Ramadan moon which was seen in most of the world early Monday morning. 

It was photographed in India and Pakistan by Mr AR Sugeng Riyadi from Rowasiya and Irshad Sait, President of Hijri COMMITTEE of INDIA respectively.

This implication is that the moon will only be visible after a minimum of 48 hours after it disappears from the sky, hence it can only be visible with optical instruments on Wednesday and with the naked eyes on Thursday. 

Based on the foregoing, Ramadan fasting will end on Wednesday marking 30 days of fasting and Eid will be on Thursday, as the day will mark the first day of Shawwal. 

Hence, the Eid I’ll Fitri festival will be observed on Thursday as Ramadan will end on Wednesday with the instruction of the holy prophet Muhammed to start and end Ramadan upon the sighting of the new moon.
