According to a close family confidant, Mahe appeared healthy on Friday while attending multiple events, including a wedding, a Jumat service at Ansaru-deen Central Mosque, and a visit to the Immigration office for a passport renewal ahead of his planned Umrah trip. Later that day, he attended family engagements and met with a friend before returning home.

The next morning, Mahe drove himself to the home of a family member but appeared weak upon arrival. Despite efforts to seek medical attention at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, he passed away on the way.

He was buried later that day at his residence, following funeral prayers led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin. The burial ceremony was attended by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, and other dignitaries. The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, expressed his sorrow over the loss and announced that the fidau prayer for the deceased would take place on Thursday, led by Islamic clerics of the Ilorin Emirate.
