Federal Government Initiates Investigation into Petroleum Tanker Explosion

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Nneamaka Okafor, Lokpobiri instructed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to launch an investigation into the events that led to this tragic accident.

The minister also advised the public to stay away from vehicles carrying petroleum products if they are involved in accidents or breakdowns.

Additionally, he called on companies involved in transporting petroleum to ensure that their drivers are properly trained and certified, in line with safety standards set by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

“On behalf of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Federal Government, we offer our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this heartbreaking event.

“Our thoughts are with the injured, and we hope for their quick and complete recovery.

“The Minister has instructed the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) to begin a thorough investigation into the causes of this unfortunate incident immediately.

“He also urges Nigerians to avoid getting close to vehicles carrying petroleum products that have been in accidents or have mechanical issues.

“While it may be tempting to collect spilled fuel, the risks of doing so are extremely high.

“This tragic event serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers involved in such actions.

“Following this incident, the Ministry advises all petroleum transporters to only employ certified drivers who meet the safety criteria outlined by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). Continue Reading>>>
