Speaking to the Nigerian Tribune, Adams disclosed intelligence suggesting that a helicopter was used to deliver food items and weapons to a forest in Owo, where illegal mining activities were taking place.

“About three years ago, there was information at my disposal that a helicopter usually came to that forest to drop food items and weapons,” Adams revealed.

He linked this activity to the rise in insecurity along major routes in the area:

“Six months after I got that information, the road between Owo and Ikare became a security threat. They always attacked and kidnapped people in broad daylight.”

Adams also pointed out that insecurity had spread to nearby areas, including the road leading to Kogi State.

His statement reinforces concerns about the link between illegal mining and armed violence, suggesting that unchecked exploitation of natural resources could be fueling insecurity in parts of Nigeria.
