Hafsoh Murder: Kwara Court Remands 3 ‘Islamic Clerics’, Phone Repairer, and Farmer in Prison

The accused—Ahmed AbdulWasiu (41), Suleiman Muhyideen (28), Jamiu Uthman (29), and AbdulRahman Jamiu—faced charges of criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, possession of human parts, and armed robbery. According to the First Information Report (FIR), some other suspects are still at large.

The FIR detailed that Bello, who claimed to be an Islamic cleric, allegedly conspired with the others in the murder of Hafsoh Lawal for ritual purposes. The suspects were also accused of robbing the victim of her jewelry and other valuables. Investigations revealed that the group is linked to an occult syndicate believed to be involved in ritual killings in Kwara State.

According to police reports, the victim, Adefalu Hasfat Yetunde, went missing after attending a friend’s baby ceremony on February 10, 2025. Her phone was traced to Abdulrahman Bello, leading to his arrest. Bello confessed to killing and dismembering the victim’s body for ritual purposes, and body parts were recovered from his residence.
