JUST IN: US-Based Nigerian and Accomplice Sentenced to 40 Years for Drug Offense

Adegboruwa, 54, was sentenced to 30 years in November 2024 and ordered to forfeit $20 million—one of the largest forfeitures in the history of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Utah. Isong, 49, was sentenced to 10 years in October 2024.
The duo was found guilty of selling over 300,000 oxycodone pills between 2016 and 2019, earning approximately $9 million. Adegboruwa operated a dark web marketplace, directing a syndicate of drug peddlers to package and distribute the pills, while concealing proceeds through cryptocurrency.
U.S. officials, including DEA Special Agent Jonathan Pullen, emphasized the complexity and sophistication of the operation and reiterated their commitment to dismantling such criminal networks.
