Kano Commissioner Resigns Over Controversial Ministry Redeployment

While Diggol did not provide an official reason for his resignation, sources close to him revealed that his decision was “purely political.” According to insiders, the move stemmed from dissatisfaction with being redeployed from the highly-regarded Transportation Ministry to a less prominent role in project monitoring.

A source, speaking on condition of anonymity, suggested that Diggol’s departure was also influenced by his desire to “maintain peace, integrity, and dignity,” amid speculation that he faced potential dismissal. The source further linked his resignation to alleged frustrations with Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s perceived dominance over Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration.

Governor Yusuf, through his spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed the resignation in a statement on Sunday. The Governor expressed his appreciation for Engr. Diggol’s dedication, commitment, and service as a pioneer Managing Director of Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) and as a member of the State Executive Council since 2023.

Diggol’s tenure as Commissioner for Transportation ended when he was reassigned to the Ministry of Project Monitoring and Evaluation—a role he held briefly before stepping down.

Governor Yusuf extended his gratitude and best wishes to Diggol in his future endeavors, marking the end of the Commissioner’s chapter in the administration.
