Kano Governor Announces New Appointments, Prepares To Swear In Commissioners

In a statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the appointments took immediate effect on Sunday. Key among the new appointees is Hon. Ahmad Muhammad Speaker, named Special Adviser on Publicity. A seasoned politician, Ahmad has served three terms as Chairman of Dawakin Tofa Local Government and as the former State Organizing Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Engr. Ahmad was appointed as Special Adviser on Works, signaling the administration’s renewed emphasis on infrastructure development. Meanwhile, Malam Sani Abdullahi Tofa, a former Khadi and retired Permanent Secretary, was named Special Adviser on Special Duties.

Other notable appointments include Hon. Ibrahim Jibrin Fagge as Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission and Hajia Ladidi Ibrahim Garko as Chairman of the Kano State Civil Service Commission. Both previously served as Commissioners of Finance and Tourism, respectively.

The statement also disclosed that the Governor has scheduled the swearing-in ceremony for the new appointees on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ante-Chamber of the Kano Government House. The ceremony will include the inauguration of seven commissioner nominees recently approved by the Kano State House of Assembly, alongside the newly appointed Special Advisers.

“These appointments reflect Governor Yusuf’s commitment to assembling a capable and experienced team to drive Kano’s development agenda,” Sanusi said.
