“I was sitting in the front when I heard gunshots. The driver tried to escape, but they surrounded us. They took our money and phones and made us trek for four days before calling our families for ransom,” she recalled.

Identifying the kidnappers as Fulani men, Rofiat said they insisted on speaking English. “When my mom called and started praying in Yoruba, they slapped me and forced me to speak English. It wasn’t easy, but we thank God,” she added.

Expressing gratitude to those who contributed to her ransom, she acknowledged the financial strain on her family. “We couldn’t even afford 500,000 naira. May God bless those who helped,” she said.

Her ordeal highlights Nigeria’s growing kidnapping crisis and the resilience of victims who survive these traumatic experiences.
