Man Accuses Police of Demanding N50,000 After Thief Who Broke into Corpers' Lodge Was Caught

A man has accused police officers in Enugu State of demanding N50,000 after a thief was apprehended for breaking into a female Corpers’ lodge and stealing a lady’s belongings. ...CONTINUE READING>>>

The man reported the incident to the Enugu State Police Command on Saturday, claiming that residents caught one of the thieves who had broken into the Winners Corpers’ Lodge, located in Indiagu Amaechi, Enugu South Local Government Area, on Friday night. According to the man, the thieves not only stole the belongings of a female occupant but also allegedly molested her.

After the residents captured one of the thieves and took him to the Uwani Police Station, they were reportedly told by officers at the station that they needed to pay N50,000 to proceed with the case. The officers allegedly warned them that without the payment, they should “forget about everything.”

The man, using the handle @de_easygreen on X, shared the details in a series of posts, stating, “Thieves ransacked our female Corpers’ Lodge, stole all the belongings of a lady and molested her. We were able to catch one in the morning. We reported to police, they told us to pay N50,000 or we should forget about everything.”

In response, the Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Daniel Ndukwe, asked the man for further details, including the location and timing of the incident, which he provided.
