1. The body of late Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, who died in the ill-fated Nigerian Air Force plane, which crashed in Kaduna on Friday, was laid to rest yesterday in Abuja. He was buried at exactly 4:45 pm.

2. Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, popularly called Sunday Igboho, has declared that there was no going back for him on the clamour for a Yoruba nation. He stated this while addressing a large crowd that attended a rally held in Akure, the Ondo State capital, yesterday.

3. The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Lucky Irabor has ordered the constitution of a Board of Inquiry (BOI), to unravel the circumstances surrounding the crash of the ill-fated Nigerian Air Force Beechcraft aircraft that claimed the lives of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Ibrahim Attahiru, and ten other senior officers of the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

4. The Archbishop of Enugu Ecclesiastic Province, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Emmanuel Chukwuma, has frowned at the continuous reference to the IPOB as terrorists, insisting that they are not terrorists but agitators. He spoke to newsmen at Okpara Square, Enugu, shortly after the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Enugu State chapter’s prayer rally.

5. The Federal Government has said that it is determined to end quackery in the teaching profession, insisting that no teacher would be allowed into the classrooms without a certification and license from the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TCRN). The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Education, Sonny Echono stated this yesterday.

6. Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State said yesterday that he was shocked and embarrassed at the defection of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State to the All Progressives Congress (APC). Ishaku spoke to State House correspondents in Abuja.

7. Latest data from the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) revealed that as of May 22, 2021, a total of 1,927,141 eligible Nigerians have been vaccinated with the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in the first phase of the vaccination.

8. President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday, approved the process to select five new permanent secretaries to replace the retired ones in Ekiti, Katsina, Nasarawa, Enugu and Lagos States. The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, disclosed this in a statement.

9. Alhaji Yusuf Lawal, the District Head of Kankara, where over 300 pupils were kidnapped in December 2020, has been sacked for allegedly aiding and abetting banditry in his domain. Alhaji Bello Mamman-Ifo, the Council’s Secretary, announced this in Katsina.

10. Unknown armed men have attacked the Tse-Ancha community in Makurdi Local Government Area of Benue State, killing eight residents. Chairman of Makurdi Local Government Area, Anthony Dyegeh, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Makurdi on Saturday
