Under the Ibadan Orphanage Operators Forum, the group expressed deep concern over the incident and emphasized the urgent need for better crowd management and improved emergency response systems.

The Forum’s Chairman, Mr. Adebayo Adewumi, stated, “This tragic event is a significant loss to our community and highlights the critical need for enhanced safety protocols at public gatherings, especially those involving large crowds.”

The Forum proposed several recommendations to prevent such incidents in the future:

1. Improved Crowd Management: Deploy trained personnel for effective crowd control, including barriers, clear signage, and designated entry and exit points.
2. Enhanced Emergency Response: Ensure the availability of medical teams, ambulances, and fire services at events, with regular drills for efficient emergency handling.
3. Thorough Venue Inspections: Conduct pre-event inspections to identify potential hazards, such as overcrowding or inadequate exits.
4. Public Awareness Campaigns: Educate attendees on crowd safety measures, including avoiding overcrowding and following organizers’ instructions during emergencies.

“The safety of children and the general public must be a top priority,” Adewumi added. “We strongly urge event organizers to adopt these recommendations to avoid future tragedies.”

The Ibadan Orphanage Operators Forum also pledged to collaborate with authorities, including the police and emergency services, to ensure public safety at upcoming events.
