Police to Deploy 10,000 Constables for Community Policing, Plan Annual Recruitment of 30,000 — IGP Egbetokun

According to a statement by the Force’s spokesperson, ACP Olumiyiwa Adejobi, on Thursday, these constables recently completed a rigorous six-month training program at various police colleges across the country.

Boosting Police Capacity

IGP Egbetokun revealed that the Force is targeting an annual recruitment of 30,000 police constables, a directive approved by President Bola Tinubu. This initiative aims to strengthen internal security and improve police service delivery across the nation.

At the Passing-Out Parade held at the Police Training School in Bauchi, the IG, represented by Bauchi State Commissioner of Police Auwal Muhammad, emphasized the importance of professionalism, fairness, and friendliness in discharging their duties.

Comprehensive Training for Modern Challenges

The IG highlighted the extensive training and orientation provided to the recruits, equipping them to address Nigeria’s complex security challenges while adhering to legal and ethical principles.

“The exercise marks the culmination of a six-month rigorous training program that has pushed the recruits to their physical and intellectual limits,” Egbetokun said.

He further stated that the recruits were trained in fundamental policing ethics, modern law enforcement techniques, and research-based practices to prepare them for their roles as professional officers.

Enhancing Security Nationwide

The IG expressed optimism about the recruits’ ability to contribute meaningfully to law enforcement in Nigeria. He underscored the significance of President Tinubu’s approval for the annual recruitment of 30,000 constables, which will reinforce internal security measures and enhance police performance.

Egbetokun concluded by urging the newly inducted officers to uphold the values instilled in them during their training and to focus on building trust within their communities.
