Before the election, Apostle Agyei confidently prophesied that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, would win. He was so certain of his claim that he publicly invited Ghanaians to stone him to death if the prophecy didn’t come true.

However, the election results defied his prediction, with former President John Dramani Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, emerging as the winner. Following the unexpected outcome, Apostle Agyei has been pleading for forgiveness from Ghanaians, asking them to overlook his failed prophecy.

This isn’t Apostle Agyei’s first brush with controversy. In 2021, he was accused of threatening to kill Jean Mensah, the Chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, during a video broadcast where he allegedly used abusive and threatening language.

The failed prophecy has sparked public reactions, with many criticizing religious leaders for making bold but unverifiable claims. One commenter remarked, “Why must they feel compelled to predict? These fake pastors are everywhere. We have one in Nigeria who vowed to abandon Christianity if Tinubu won the election. Shame on them. I pity those who follow them.”
