Police reports indicate that Zuwaira had often voiced her concerns regarding her grandson’s physical and mental health. Despite Nura’s warnings to stop her inquiries, she persisted.

In a recorded confession shared with PUNCH Metro, Nura stated, “She kept asking about my health, and I told her to stop. I even asked her what was wrong with me, but she didn’t respond. It drove me to pour petrol on her and set her ablaze.”

He expressed that his frustration with her constant questioning led him to commit the act.According to the police, Nura took a can of petrol to his family home, soaked his grandmother in fuel, and ignited it. The spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, Shiisu Lawan Adam, confirmed the incident and noted that initial investigations suggest Nura has been battling a mental disorder and has been receiving treatment at Kazaure Psychiatric Hospital.

Following the incident, Nura was arrested and has confessed to the crime.
