FG Declares 63 Nigerians Wanted

The Federal Government has declared 63 Nigerians and 27 foreigners wanted for violating the quarantine provisions of the COVID-19 guidelines.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, disclosed this on Sunday night.

He recalled that the Presidential Steering Committee on 1st May 2021 issued a Travel Advisory for passengers arriving in Nigeria from Brazil, India and Turkey.

According to him, these precautionary measures were necessary step to mitigate the risk of importation of variants of concern and break the chain of transmission to the population in the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday put a call across to the wife of the late Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru to commiserate with her on the shocking death of her husband.

This is as the President has directed the Defence headquarters and the Ministry of Defence to do everything possible to provide comfort and succor to ease the hardships of the families of the deceased.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu in Abuja last night.

Tinubu Speaks

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has denied the claim that he has endorsed any candidate for the forthcoming local government election in Lagos State.

In a statement on Sunday, he faulted the allegations of a plot to influence the party’s primaries, saying they were targeted to hurt the party.

Tinubu noted that the APC Governance Advisory Council in Lagos met on Friday last week to discuss ways to ensure the fairness of the primaries for the poll.

Reps Postpone Security Summit In Honour Of COAS

The House of Representatives has announced the postponement of its security summit that was scheduled to hold from Monday, May 24, 2021.

The announcement was contained in a statement released on Sunday by the Clerk of the House, Chinedu Akubueze, which revealed that the meeting was postponed in honour of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other military personnel who died in a plane crash in Kaduna on Friday.

The statement then unveiled the new date for the security summit, adding that the House of Representatives also shares in the sorrow of the families left behind by the late officers.

The group saidIgbo are no longer interested in a country where appointments are skewed in favour of one ethic group.

The National Youth President, Arthur Obiora who spoke with Daily Trust , in Awka, Anambra state capital, on Sunday, said the current insecurity and agitation across the country are caused by injustice and inequity.
