"Unfounded Accusations": Ladi Adebutu Shares Experience in DSS Custody

In a statement recounting his detention and questioning in Abeokuta, Adebutu said the accusations, linked to the November 16 local government elections in Ogun State, were an attempt to silence his opposition. He was detained Monday night and released early Tuesday.

“These unfounded allegations are clearly designed to suppress my voice as an opposition leader,” Adebutu remarked. He criticized the elections as neither free nor fair, emphasizing his constitutional right to express dissent.

Reiterating his commitment to local government autonomy, Adebutu criticized Ogun State’s leadership for undermining the third tier of government over the past five years, describing it as detrimental to development. He aligned his stance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s views on local government independence, highlighting its non-partisan importance.

Despite the ordeal, Adebutu praised the DSS for their professionalism and commended the judiciary for its judgment permitting the PDP’s participation in the local elections.

He concluded by urging collaboration across all fronts to ensure good governance, thanking supporters and critics alike for their engagement.
