The Anambra State government has intensified its efforts to curb the activities of fake native doctors and reduce crime by sealing off a shrine located in Umuofor village, Okija, within Ihiala Local Government Area....CONTINUE READING>>>
The shrine, reportedly managed by Ekene Igboegbueze, who claims to be a native doctor offering promises of extraordinary wealth, was shut down after multiple complaints from local residents.
According to Prince Ken Emeakai, Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Security, the action was taken in response to concerns raised by the community. He explained that Igboegbueze’s operations were deemed illegal under the Anambra State Homeland Security Laws. Emeakai also mentioned that properties linked to the alleged illegal activities had been sealed, and that items discovered at the shrine would undergo forensic examination to guide further governmental actions.
Chinenye Ihenko, Director of Operations for the Agunechemba Security Outfit, warned young people against engaging with fake native doctors and deceitful pastors, emphasizing that such influences are driving a harmful “get-rich-quick” mentality within the state.
“Our mission is to cleanse Anambra of all elements that contribute to its desecration or support criminal activities. We are fully committed to this cause and assure the people of our determination,” Ihenko stated.
He also urged the youth to pursue legitimate means of livelihood to avoid legal consequences.
