CDS Says Many Outsiders Perceive Nigeria as a Dangerous Place with High Levels of Violence

In a video shared by Symfoni on YouTube, he pointed out that many people outside Nigeria believe it to be a hostile place marked by frequent violence.

General Musa made these comments while highlighting the significance of the upcoming African military games, which Nigeria is set to host in November for the second time.

He emphasized that the event provides an opportunity to counter these negative perceptions and show the world a different side of Nigeria.

By hosting the games in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Musa believes the country can demonstrate its safety and security, not just to its citizens but to international visitors as well.

Musa hopes that the event will help reshape the way Nigeria is viewed, both in Africa and around the world.

He addressed the misconceptions about Nigeria, stating that many foreigners have a distorted view, seeing the country as dangerous and unstable.

He argued that this perception is not accurate, especially when it comes to Abuja, which he described as one of Nigeria’s safest cities.

He encouraged people to rethink their views on Nigeria, especially those who may not be aware of the current realities.

While acknowledging that Nigeria does face challenges, including violence and insecurity in some areas, Musa highlighted the efforts by the government and security forces to maintain order and stability.

He cited Abuja as an example of a city that remains safe, despite the negative image sometimes portrayed in the media.

The CDS also noted that these negative perceptions often come from a lack of understanding about Nigeria’s true situation.

Musa explained, “When you travel abroad, most people have the impression that Nigeria is a very hostile place with frequent violence.”

He added, “But you’ll find that Nigeria is actually more secure than many of these countries that make such claims.”

He pointed out that Nigeria’s media enjoys a high level of freedom, allowing extensive reporting, which may contribute to the perception of insecurity.
