Tensions rose when Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, declined to provide security for the upcoming local government elections in Rivers State. In a video posted by Sahara TV, Dokubo alleged that military helicopters were surveilling his residence, attributing this to Wike’s influence.

Dokubo issued a stark warning to Wike, stating, “Let them tell Wike to back off; I am sixty years old; I have never been afraid of death; I have always embraced death.”
