Enugu Government Labels Simon Ekpa a ‘Common Criminal,’ Gathers Evidence for Court Proceedings

In a statement issued on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the government strongly condemned Ekpa’s alleged actions, accusing him of inciting violence and exploiting the emotions of the South East for personal gain.

The statement also described Ekpa as an alleged “murderer and fraudster” responsible for orchestrating attacks that have caused considerable loss of life and property in the region.

According to Vanguard, Prof. Onyia further stated that Enugu State is prepared to provide evidence of Ekpa’s involvement in these atrocities, whether in Finland or Nigeria, to support his prosecution.

The Enugu government criticized Ekpa for using his base in Finland to incite violence, instill fear, and undermine the entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo people.

It accused him of manipulating his people under the guise of fighting for Biafra’s restoration.

The arrest, according to the government, aligns with the position of Governor Peter Mbah’s administration, which has long called for action against Ekpa.

The government expressed hope that Ekpa’s trial would restore peace and stability in the South East and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice and fostering a secure environment for its citizens.
