In a live interview on Symfoni TV, Gov. Diri warmly welcomed Fubara, saying, “Our doors are open 24 hours to whoever that God has so decided to be the governor of Rivers State. And today, God has decided that you are the governor, and our doors are open to you.” This statement highlighted the welcoming spirit between the two leaders and their shared vision for mutual growth and development.

Gov. Diri further strengthened the bond between Bayelsa and Rivers, explaining that their relationship goes beyond mere geography. “Sometimes, we will even say that we have more stake in Rivers State than even in Bayelsa State,” he said. He reflected on the historical cooperation between the two states, noting that both Bayelsa and Rivers citizens worked together to push for the creation of Rivers State, with Bayelsa providing the first military administrator.

In his address, Gov. Diri also took pride in the progress Bayelsa has made since its creation, particularly in the development of Yenagoa, the state capital. He expressed satisfaction with the strides made and remained optimistic about the state’s continued growth.

His remarks reaffirmed the enduring partnership between Bayelsa and Rivers, two key states in the Niger Delta, united by shared heritage, interests, and a commitment to regional development.
