The accusation, made by former Governor Peter Odili, was categorically denied by Wike, who questioned the legitimacy of such claims. “Those who made the allegations have their children serving as commissioners. Is any of my children a commissioner? I never converted the state into my personal estate,” Wike asserted.

Reflecting on his political journey, Wike proudly stated, “Since 1999, when I contested elections for the Obio/Akpor local government council, I have been winning every election I contest because we know how this game works.”

Wike also recounted his pivotal role in securing the reelection of former Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, despite facing significant personal and professional challenges. “I had an ulcer, but I still went to Edo and ensured Obaseki won that election. I fought Oshiomhole. The police ordered me to leave Edo State. I left my car at the hotel and disappeared. But the same Obaseki turned against us,” he lamented.

The former Rivers State governor used the occasion to address the political climate in the state, pledging unwavering support to his loyalists while hinting at significant developments in the near future. “People will be shocked by the kind of movement that will soon happen in this state. I just want all of you to remain steadfast. We will soon overcome,” Wike said.

Wike further called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, expressing optimism about the nation’s prospects under his administration. “With what Mr. President is doing, 2025 will be better than last year. The President needs our prayers, and we must continue to pray for him,” he urged.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, and Chief Ferdinand Alabrabra, among others. While Wike’s remarks drew applause from his supporters, they also sparked candid responses, including one from Senator Magnus Abe, who admitted to engaging in anti-party activities during previous elections—a practice he noted was common among politicians pursuing personal interests.
