Kingibe argued that the demolition exercise had strayed from its original goal of targeting illegal structures and undeveloped plots. Instead, it had become indiscriminate, causing undue hardship, including the destruction of properties with legitimate titles. She cited the example of Merss Paulosa Estate, owned by the late Colonel Paul Osang Kwanwa, which was revoked despite its lawful allocation in 1984.

Kingibe urged the Senate to intervene and halt further demolitions until investigations determined whether FCT Minister Nyesom Wike was acting within legal boundaries. Her motion resonated with many senators, emphasizing the need for a balanced approach to safeguard citizens’ rights.

Despite some opposition, Kingibe’s motion led to a Senate resolution to suspend all demolitions pending the outcome of an investigation. This decision underscored her commitment to defending her constituents and ensuring adherence to the rule of law. Her advocacy brought attention to the plight of those affected by the government’s actions.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio supported Kingibe’s stance, warning against causing irreversible harm before investigations were completed. Under his leadership, the Senate approved the establishment of an ad-hoc committee to examine the demolition activities. There is also concern that an estate known as Merss Paulosa, chaired by the late Colonel Paul Osang Kwanwa of Bebo, is currently facing revocation and demolition. According to reliable information, the land in question was allocated to him in 1984 and is backed by the necessary title documents.

Also concerned that at the moment, an estate by name Merss Paulosa, for which late Colonel Paul Osang Kwanwa of Bebo, is the chairman, is currently under revocation and demolition. And from reliable information, the said plot of land was allocated to him in 1984 with the requisite title document.
