Governor Umar Namadi made this known while receiving officials from the Camel Rearers Association of West Africa at the Government House in Dutse.

Expressing concern over the rising fatalities and injuries linked to camels crossing major roads, the governor stressed that the government prioritizes the safety and well-being of its residents.

Additionally, Governor Namadi acknowledged the illegal activities of some herders, particularly those from neighboring countries, and announced plans to register Fulani herders in the state to ensure easy identification when needed.

During the visit, Abubakar Mustapha Andaza, Secretary-General of the West Africa Rearers Association of Nigeria, stated that the association sought to formally introduce itself and seek government guidance on best practices for operating in Jigawa.

Reports from DAILY POST indicate that numerous deaths and property losses occur annually due to road accidents involving stray camels across the state.
