Kogi group urges President Tinubu to intervene, accusing the EFCC of distracting Governor Ododo by targeting Yahaya Bello

The Odu Akowe Network Group (OANG) has called on President Bola Tinubu to step in and stop the alleged harassment of former Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). CONTINUE READING>>>

The group expressed concerns that the actions of the EFCC are not only targeting the ex-governor but are also becoming a distraction for the current Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, hindering his ability to govern effectively.

During a press conference in Lokoja on Tuesday, the group’s spokesperson, Comrade Noah Agada, urged President Tinubu to instruct the EFCC to cease activities that could disrupt the progress of Ododo’s administration.

Agada stated: “The recent actions of the EFCC regarding Kogi State have created an environment of distraction and tension, which is negatively impacting the state’s peace and development.”

He added that Governor Ododo is facing unnecessary difficulties due to the ongoing investigations into alleged misconduct during Yahaya Bello’s administration, which he believes are politically motivated. This, Agada said, is preventing the state from moving forward.

Agada accused certain political figures of using the EFCC as a tool for personal gain, rather than focusing on legitimate anti-corruption efforts.

He argued that the continuous investigation of Yahaya Bello’s tenure is obstructing the current government from carrying out its responsibilities effectively and called for a shift towards focusing on Kogi State’s future and development.

Agada further claimed that the EFCC’s actions, allegedly driven by individuals seeking political advantage, are more about harassment than genuine accountability, diverting Governor Ododo’s attention from governance.

The Odu Akowe Network Group also called on the federal government, the APC leadership, and other democratic institutions to intervene and address what they described as the EFCC’s “unprofessional conduct” towards Yahaya Bello. CONTINUE READING>>>

Agada emphasized that the government should prioritize attracting development to Kogi State instead of allowing the anti-graft agency to disrupt governance through continuous investigations.

He concluded by urging the federal government to focus on driving progress and innovation in Kogi State, rather than on investigations that could impede its development.
