Lawyer Accuses Sheikh Gumi of Fueling Northern Insecurity for Monetary Gain

In a statement released on Monday, Ejiofor accused Gumi of backing groups responsible for terrorism and banditry, arguing that his focus on financial gain is intensifying the region’s security crisis. He criticized Gumi’s role as a negotiator for criminal elements, describing it as a dangerous and divisive act that jeopardizes national safety.

Ejiofor also questioned why Gumi has not faced prosecution despite his alleged links to individuals undermining security. He noted that one of Gumi’s associates is under investigation for promoting banditry, adding weight to his allegations.

Ejiofor stated,
“Gumi’s proposal is both divisive and dangerous. His questionable obsession with monetary benefits has led him to fuel insecurity in the North, while acting as a defender and negotiator for criminal elements.”
