Idam stated that Akpabio had long shown a lack of empathy, especially when he proudly declared he would be relaxing at home while hungry Nigerians protested. Finally, Idam argued that until Nigerians demand accountability from their leaders, institutions like the National Assembly will continue to lose credibility. He stressed that the dignity of the Assembly must be built on the character and conduct of its officers, and improper behavior by those in power should not be dismissed as mere theatrics.
