Obidients Leave Labour Party, Join ADC Party in Political Shift

A recent report by Symfoni TV revealed that members of the “Obidients” movement have officially left the Labour Party (LP) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The announcement was made during a gathering that included the ADC’s National Executive Committee (NEC), Board of Trustees (BOT), and representatives from the Coalition of Political Movements (COPM). Addressing the audience, a key leader welcomed the new members and the media, saying, “I want to welcome the members of the media, all of you in the ADC, NEC and BOT, and the COPM members who are joining us today. I wish you all well.”

The speaker, also the president of the FAS Club of Africa, reflected on Nigeria’s struggling democracy over the past 25 years. “Our democracy has continued to struggle, and this has raised serious concerns within the ADC,” he noted. He criticized the electoral process, stating that “Elections after elections have continued to produce very uncomplimentary outcomes, which have affected the quality of governance.”

He further lamented the country’s socio-political crisis, likening Nigeria to a nation at war with itself. “Young men and women are leaving not just for Europe, America, and Asia, but even for other African countries,” he observed, highlighting the need for urgent reforms.
