PDP Governors Unite Against Nyesom Wike, Pledge Support for Sim Fubara

Governors elected under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rallied behind Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, taking a stance against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to Punch Newspapers, the PDP Governors’ Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, released a statement expressing strong support for Fubara amid the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State. Continue Reading>>>

This show of solidarity follows Wike’s warning to “put fire” in PDP-controlled states if their governors interfered in Rivers politics.

The Forum condemned Wike’s threats as “unbridled, irresponsible, and unacceptable,” as stated by the Forum’s Director General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo. They emphasized their dedication to mutual support among PDP governors, regardless of the circumstances.

The statement affirmed, “We are irrevocably committed to working with the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great party, the PDP, to ensure that Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State receives all the privileges he is entitled to as a governor elected on the platform of our party, both at the state and national levels.”

The governors also called on security agencies to take Wike’s threats seriously and prevent any unrest in PDP-controlled states. Continue Reading>>>

They stressed the need for party unity and collective progress, urging all members, including Wike, to prioritize the party’s interests over personal grievances.

In response to Wike’s threats, Governor Bala Mohammed remarked, “Nobody can put fire in Bauchi. We have volumes of water that will quench the fire.” He also downplayed the conflict’s personal nature, saying, “Even my friend (Wike) that said so, it is because he is annoyed. But it is not personal.”
